Use of power tools and manufacturers guidance
A power drill was used to attach a glass panelled door to a wardrobe. Several screws were used to attach the glass panel in accordance with the instructions however a power drill was used instead of a hand screwdriver as depicted in the manufacturer's instruction. Once the assembler left the three doors cracked and large shards of glass broke off one of the panels and fell to the floor.
This incident did not lead to any injuries but complete replacement doors were required from the manufacturer. We remind all assemblers that you should carefully follow all manufacturers guidelines and we recommend that you should never use power tools on any glass or any fragile parts as you cannot tell the amount of force being applied by the power tool.
